The kitten s baby teeth are the cat s first set of teeth which erupt around the third week.

When should kittens lose their baby teeth. By the time a kitten reaches six to seven months all of their 30 permanent teeth should have erupted. Long before their first birthday your growing kitten should have 30 permanent teeth. You may never even see the teeth as your kitten loses them as they are often lost during mealtime or through play. Kittens begin to lose their baby teeth around 3 4 months of age to make room for the larger adult or permanent teeth.

Most kittens lose their baby teeth between the ages of 6 and 9 months. A kitten will have all of their adult teeth between 6 to 9 months provided there are no complications. Kittens start losing their baby teeth around 9 weeks of age and from that time until their adult teeth are fully grown in at 5 to 6 months you can count on lots of chewing action. When do cats kittens lose their baby teeth.

Kittens are born without visible teeth. Their kitten teeth also referred to as primary milk or deciduous teeth and then their permanent or adult teeth. Not all cats teeth grow at the same rate. Just like with human children the timeline for losing kitten teeth is pretty flexible.

Kittens have a total of 26 deciduous teeth. These teeth look tiny thin and sharp which function just fine for kittens. At around six months of age most cats should have lost their baby teeth to make way for their adult teeth. Cats begin losing their baby teeth at around 12 weeks or 3 months.

Around three weeks of age their kitten teeth will begin to erupt. When kittens lose their baby teeth and these are being replaced with permanent ones the new teeth should usually be even whiter thicker and larger. Each tooth should sit in one socket. Most cat owners won t even notice a kitten has lost his tooth it is often lost in the home or swallowed.

If you have doubts you should contact your vet. If a cat has two teeth in one spot it is considered abnormal. Although the timing varies between animals as much as it does among humans the average kitten will have lost all her baby teeth by between 6 and 9 months old. However this is not a hard and fast rule.

Some kittens may lose their baby teeth earlier and some may lag behind a bit. Around 4 7 months of age permanent adult teeth will start replacing the baby teeth. These teeth are all deciduous also called baby or milk teeth. The majority of kittens begin losing their teeth at 3 months old however there are some cases where losing teeth may begin a bit later in life.

By four months of age all of their 26 primary teeth should be visible. However if there are a number of teeth missing once your kitten reaches nine or ten weeks you may want to contact your vet to check everything is okay.
