As mentioned earlier a kitten grows most between 1 to 12 months. Nevertheless irrespective of the size of your cat it is considered to be an adult by the time it turns 1 year old. Between 6 months to 12 months is when kittens stop growing in size. Their next growth spurt comes when the kitten begins to transition into eating solid food at around four to six weeks old.

But not all cats meet this threshold. Kittens grow rapidly until 6 months old. In the first six months they grow notably unlike other stages. At around 12 to 14 months most cats stop growing.

While smaller breeds fully grow between 9 months to 1 year larger cats may take up to 2 years to become full grown adults. However depending on the size of the cat you can guess its approximate age. Some cats may still experience some growth after this stage but at a much slower pace. Most cats reach their maximum size at 18 months which is when most kittens stop growing.

That is why it becomes really difficult to know when your cat is likely to stop growing. Again this is true of many cats but certainly not all. After month six your kitten will keep growing but it will be at a slower and slower rate. In the next six months they stop growing physically but develop mentally and behaviorally.

The last growth spurt usually occurs when your kitten is between four and six months of age. It doesn t mean they stop growing further. Generally kittens are considered to be adults after one year.
